Linking to Department for Work and Pensions and HMRC data
What information will you link to?
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and HMRC hold information regarding any social security benefits, tax credits that you might be claiming, as well as your employment records. We would like your consent to request these records from DWP and HMRC so that we can link them anonymously to your survey responses.
Why do you want this information?
This information will enable us to look in more detail at the employment patterns of families with young children. For example, it will help the government better understand how working and/or receiving benefits impacts on use of childcare, and whether having access to childcare has an impact the working patterns of families.
Will any of my benefits be affected?
Benefit and tax credit claims (if you receive any) will not be affected in any way. The DWP and HMRC will never see your name linked to any of the responses you gave in the survey.
Is this being used for anything other than research?
No. We will continue to use this information for research purposes only and will treat your answers to the survey in confidence. We will only ever provide anonymised findings to DWP/HMRC and in reports published by DfE.
